Pemba Channel Fishing Club

The Pemba Channel is widely known, not only as the best place to fish in Kenya but probably the best place in the whole of Africa. The Pemba Channel Fishing Club has a world-wide reputation for its Marlin catches, holding 75% of all marlin records caught out of Shimoni, 54% of all Kenyan marlin records and 7 all-Africa marlin records. You, too, might well have your name up in lights, as many records are still vacant, especially amongst the ladies' categories.

With an impressive well-tuned fleet of 3 big game sport fishing boats, we can accommodate salmon fishermen, fly fishermen, deep-sea anglers and complete novices with the help of our very professional skippers and crews, who have a combined experience of over 150 years between them! Kadi Nahoda, one such skipper, on 'White Otter' continues to hold the record for catching, tagging & releasing 116 marlin in one season. One of our other skippers is owner of the club, Peter Ruysenaars, who started fishing here in the mid 70's. He took over the club in 1990 and is the proficient skipper of 'Jasiri', as enthusiastic as ever, sharing his expansive knowledge and fascinating stories with his clients.

The Pemba Channel is Africa's premier marlin destination. Striped, Black and Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Broadbill, Mako, Tiger and other sharks, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado, Giant Trevally and many other lesser game fish.

We do not only fish the Pemba channel but we have other really exciting options. For a completely different thrill, why not do a night trip trolling for Broadbill and experience the challenge of this cunning night feeder. We also do an amazing fishing trip to Pemba Island in the Zanzibar Archipelago to fish those waters. We can either live-on-board the fishing boats or live-on-board M Y Kisiwani, our luxury, fully air-conditioned motor yacht, which can sleep up to ten passengers.

At the end of your fishing trips you can relax by our 25m pool, enjoy a refreshing drink from our well-stocked bar, or wind down in the comfortable, open-air lounge area, before sampling our superb cuisine.

Everyone is made welcome at the Club, so bring your partner, bring your husband, and bring your children if you wish as there's plenty to keep non-anglers happy.

There's something for all tastes and levels of experience, so please read on through the rest of the site and find out all you need to know about this justifiably fabled big game fishing destination.
