Nature Kenya is the business name (in Kenya) of the East Africa Natural History Society. The Society was established in 1909 and is the oldest conservation organisation in Africa.

The aim of Nature Kenya is to promote the study and conservation of the natural environment, in eastern Africa.

The 'headline' mission of Nature Kenya in Kenya is :

"Connecting nature and people"

In pursuing this mission, Nature Kenya strives to:

• build a strong constituency for conservation across the country
• enhance knowledge of Kenya's biological diversity
• advocate for policies favourable to biodiversity conservation
• promote conservation of key species, sites, and habitats

The Nature Kenya conservation programme promotes sound management and sustainable utilisation of natural resources at important biodiversity sites.

Membership is open to anyone interested in nature. Nature Kenya members come from all over Kenya and the world, and from a great diversity of backgrounds and professions. Nature Kenya is the East Africa Natural History Society (EANHS) in Kenya. It is a membership-based organization, and we invite all of you who are not members to join today and be part of a strong participatory and voluntary tradition where members actively participate in the study of nature and implementation of conservation activities.

Nature Kenya implements the Society’s aims through the headline mission “connecting nature and people” to take action for biodiversity conservation. Nature Kenya strives to:

Nature Kenya (the EANHS) is the BirdLife International Partner in Kenya, and its day-to-day business is delegated to a small highly professional core staff and contracted project staff headed by an Executive Director. The staff and the Society membership and volunteers at the national and local levels implement the Society strategic plan.
