Some have called us the "rug gallery". Some refer to us as the "ethnic accent" because Woodley Weavers has transformed the craft of weaving into an art, through which Kenyan women express their emotions using locally available resources, such as wool, cotton and plant dyes.
Located in the Woodley estate on a tiny piece of land bordering the extensive Kibera Slums. Woodley Weavers have trained a record of 465 single mothers from the Kibera Slums, 78 of whom are refugees from neighbouring countries. While some have moved to start their own weaving business, which we highly encourage. Woodley weavers have retained some of the traditional quality, originality and perfection, which are our hallmark since December 1991.
Woodley Weavers offer after-sales services, which include advice on cleaning, repairing and valving rugs. Our main clientele are the repeat customers, who have tested and proven our promise of "uncompromising personalised service".
Our product range includes carpets, wall hangings, bed-side rugs, table clothes, bedspreads and curtains all designed, woven and given a high class finish that is secon to no other workshop in the COMESA region.
The weavers are encouraged to express themselves through design, colour and patterns, some of which resemble household weavers of Ethiopia and Novaho-tribes while still remain distinctly Kenyan.
- We have used NO child labour
- The plant dyes are environmentally friendly
