Amaica Restaurant

Nestled inside China Centre building, along Ngong Road, Amaica Restaurant presents itself as the premier haven for the tasty culinary delights that Western Kenya has to offer. Many other restaurants have tried to masquerade as masters in Western Kenya cuisine, but Amaica has proven to be a trailblazer and simply unmatched.

Stepping into the restaurant one immediately gets taken in by the rich Afro theme characterized with a blend of warm earthy hues of brown, mustard yellow and a subtle touch of orange. The African homey feel is further enhanced by the elaborately designed furniture, tastefully styled with cloth and beads. A tang of modernity is evident with the cozy set up of a classy restaurant. Then there is the priceless traditional dining area, complete with a traditional sitting arrangement, traditional water pots, traditional décor with a floor rug to match and an array of bits and pieces reminiscent of a traditional feasting abode.

But what Amaica is most celebrated for is the Nutritious Western Kenya delicacies that they serve. Meal times at Amaica are typified by a dazzling array of dishes to pick, from the intricately set buffet. You can sample the favorite Ingokho (Chicken) prepared in different unique styles, or OmuShenye, a mixture of sweet potatoes and beans boiled and mashed to form the finger licking meal. The most popular accompaniment to the dishes is White Maize Meal Ugali and Ugali wa Wimbi (Finger Millet and Cassava Meal). The traditional vegetables like Lisutsa, Kunde, Tsisaka, and Omurere are also favorites among the diners. Or Ikerebe (Smoked tilapia in a rich tasty onion, tomato, garlic and coriander sauce)

Helmed by a team of friendly and efficient staff, the restaurant has a Fully Stocked bar, offers outside catering services and live traditional African tunes on weekends.

Visit and find out why Amaica is So Traditional, So Healthy!
