Quite the opposite of what i thought i'd find, we arrived at the Mohammed V International Airport to a cold morning ( 10 degres Celsius) as they are having winter.
In contrast to JKIA with its cramped space and very unfriendly personnel , right from the airport we were made to feel welcome and treated as special.
This is one thing i noticed throughout the country: there seemed to be a concerted effort to promote tourism right from the sweepers in the airport, the cab drivers, the hotel staff and even the local residents.
From Mohammed the V w ehopped to the BEAUTIFUL town of OURZAZATE where we were staying. This is mainly a tourism town and consists of numerous three and four star hotels. A few hotels advertise to be % star but from my experience they would'nt pass for a 4 star hotel in Nairobi.
That was one of the peculiarities, their hotel ratings are a bit overestimated. A 5 star hotel there is a 4 star hotel here. we stayed at the beautiful hotel Karam and the berber hotel. All hotels have a mandatory 30 metre pool due to the heat.
Another funny thing is that the entirte town's buildings were painted in one uniform colour; by law. There were no scyscrapers (the highest buikding i saw was 5 stories).
Use of traditional architecture is very common and almost all hotels have a similar style.
We also visited 3 other towns Zagora which is close to the shara desert and Agdz in addition to casablanca.
My most memorable experience was an evening in the sahara desert, where for an unknown reason itr choase to RAIN! while we were camping there. Anyway all in all its a very nice place to visit.
Only bad thing is that if you like partying due to the religious and cultural inclinations, its a bit hard to find the right crowd and beer is VERY expensive(Ksh 250 per 200ml bottle !).
Secondly no loose women :-) .So if you are of that type be warned in advance.
In conclusion:
Nice place, good sights not suggestive for young single guys.
Honeymoon destination? YES ! YES! YES!
